Juja MP George Koimburi arrested after Sh13bn AUC spening claim, held at DCI headquarters

The lawmaker had over the weekend claimed the government spent Sh13 billion on Raila Odinga’s failed African Union Commission chair campaign.

Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi was on Tuesday morning arrested.

Reports indicate that he is being detained at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Kiambu Road.

Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, took to social media to state that the MP was being held at the DCI headquarters and that he was representing him.

He alleged that the lawmaker had been detained over remarks he made over the weekend about President William Ruto.

The lawmaker had over the weekend claimed the government spent Sh13 billion on Raila Odinga’s failed African Union Commission chair campaign.

Koimburi alleged that President Ruto bribed fellow heads of state to support Raila’s bid and called for Ruto’s impeachment.

He had also threatened to move a motion to remove Speaker Moses Wetangula from office.
